Sand is the theme in GU10. The commons at Frensham and the ground around Tilford and Churt are greensand rather than clay, which makes for soft verges, loose surfaces in car parks and a jack that will happily disappear into the ground if it is not sat on a board.
The district itself is a long arc of villages wrapped around Farnham, from Tongham and Runfold in the east to Crondall and Bentley in the west, with the forest at Alice Holt in the middle.
The A31, the A325 and the A287
Three roads carry almost everything here. The A31 runs east to west across the top of the district past Runfold and Bentley, the A325 heads south through Wrecclesham and Alice Holt Forest, and the A287 climbs south-west through Millbridge and Churt.
Everything else is lanes, and they are long ones. Dockenfield, Ewshot and the ground around Frensham Ponds have stretches of a mile or more with no houses, no lighting and no signs. Stopping at a field gate or a car park entrance rather than on the lane itself makes a real difference to how safely we can work.

- Yes, including the visitor car parks. Tell us which car park and roughly where in it you are parked, because the site is large and the internal roads all look alike from a description. A pin from your phone is ideal.
