Mobile tyre fitting and recovery in GU2 (west Guildford)
Term time changes this district completely. The University of Surrey and the Research Park fill the roads on Stag Hill and Egerton Road with student and staff parking, and cars sit for weeks at a time — which is how a slow puncture becomes a flat tyre discovered on the morning someone needs to drive home.
The Royal Surrey County Hospital adds its own pattern: long stays, full car parks, and drivers who cannot simply come back tomorrow.
The A3 below the cathedral and the A322
The A3 runs along the foot of Stag Hill with the cathedral above it, and it is the fastest road in the district by some distance. There is nowhere good to stop on it here, and we would always rather you came off at the next exit than pulled onto a narrow verge.
The A322 heads north through Woodbridge Hill and Rydes Hill, and the residential estates at Park Barn, Westborough and Stoughton hang off it. Those streets are wide enough to work in but heavily parked, so the practical question is usually whether there is clear space at the wheel rather than whether we can find you.
Where we work in GU2
This district includes Guildford Business Park, Guildford Cathedral, Guildford Park, Onslow Village, Park Barn, Royal Surrey County Hospital, Rydes Hill, Stoughton (Guildford), Surrey Research Park, University of Surrey, Westborough (Guildford) and Woodbridge Hill.
The hospital and the Research Park both operate barrier car parks — tell us which one and we will sort access before our driver arrives rather than at the gate.
Questions we get asked about GU2
- Can you attend the Royal Surrey County Hospital car parks?
- We can. Hospital parking is barrier-controlled and often full, so give us the car park name and your bay if there is one. If you are visiting someone and cannot leave the ward, we can work on the car without you standing beside it.
- My car has sat on campus for weeks and the tyre is flat.
- That is a standard job here. A tyre that has been losing air slowly is often still repairable, but only if it has not been driven on flat. Leave it where it is, call us, and we will inspect it properly before deciding.
- Do you fit tyres at the Surrey Research Park?
- Yes, including company vehicles at the units there. Access is controlled, so let reception know a fitter is coming. We can invoice a business directly if the vehicle belongs to the employer rather than the driver.
Book a GU2 call-out
Call with the car park or road, and mention if the car has not moved in a while. A tyre that has gone down slowly is a different inspection from one that blew out.
