Mobile tyres and recovery in GU30 (Liphook)

Liphook was bypassed long ago, and the old road through the village is now the quiet way rather than the main one. That is good news for anyone who breaks down here: there is somewhere to stop, somewhere to stand, and somewhere for a van to park while we work.

The bypass itself is the opposite. It is dual carriageway A3, and there is nothing forgiving about it.

The A3 bypass and the old road through Liphook

The A3 runs along the eastern side of the district at speed. If a tyre lets go on it, get off at the next exit if the car will take it, or stop on the widest piece of verge you can find and put everyone out on the nearside.

The old road through Bramshott and Liphook is where the village life happens, and it is straightforward for us. Griggs Green and Passfield sit off it on lanes, and Milland is further west again through woodland — a proper lane run, unlit, and the sort of place where a pin saves twenty minutes of driving up and down.
