Mobile tyre fitting and recovery in KT10 (Esher)
Sandown Park sets the rhythm of this district. On a race day the streets around Portsmouth Road and Station Road fill with cars parked on verges and half-kerbs they would never normally use, and for a day or two afterwards we take calls about scuffed rims and tyres losing pressure from a pinched sidewall.
The rest of the week KT10 is settled commuter ground: long driveways in Esher, tighter terraces in Claygate, and the cul-de-sacs of Hinchley Wood where a van has to be parked thoughtfully before any work starts.
The A3 across Esher Common
The A3 cuts straight through Esher Common and it is the fastest road in the district by a distance. Debris gets thrown about on that stretch, and a tyre that lets go at speed there rarely survives as a repair.
Below it, the A307 Portsmouth Road and the A309 carry the traffic into and out of the district, and the A244 links Esher down towards Hersham. Those three are where we most often work on a hard shoulder or a lay-by. Inside the villages it is a different problem entirely — the older streets in Claygate are narrow enough that we sometimes ask a neighbour to hold a gap while the jack is under the car.

Questions we get asked about KT10
- Can you fit tyres in the Sandown Park car parks?
- We can, provided the car park is open and a steward will let a van in. On event days access is controlled, so call before you assume we can drive to you. If we cannot get in, we can usually work from the nearest public road instead.
- Do you carry tyres for the newer estate cars in Hinchley Wood?
- We carry common car and light van sizes and source anything unusual the same day where a supplier has it. Give us the size from the sidewall and the make of the car, and we will tell you honestly whether it is stock or an order.
- Is a puncture on the A3 through Esher Common repairable?
- Sometimes, but far less often than one picked up in a car park. Running a tyre flat at A3 speeds damages the sidewall from the inside even when the outside looks fine. We inspect it properly and only repair where the damage sits in the tread zone.
