Mobile tyres and recovery in KT14 (Byfleet and West Byfleet)
Two names, one district, and a surprising amount of traffic for its size. West Byfleet is a station village with a compact centre and heavy parking demand; Byfleet, on the other side of the railway, is older, tighter and threaded with the Wey Navigation.
KT14 sits directly between our base and Woking, so it is ground our drivers cross constantly rather than a place we make a special trip to.
The A245 Parvis Road
The A245 runs the length of this district and does most of the work, linking Cobham in one direction and Woking in the other. It is a fast single carriageway with roundabouts and no shortage of commercial traffic, and the surface takes a beating in winter.
The railway and the canal both cross the district, which means bridges and level ground are in short supply. Around the station the streets are narrow and residents' parking is tight; on the Byfleet side the older roads have high kerbs that catch a wheel easily when a car pulls in to let another past.
Where we work in KT14
This district is simply Byfleet and West Byfleet.
Both sit on our regular route, so a KT14 job rarely means a long run for us.
Questions we get asked about KT14
- How do you tell Byfleet and West Byfleet apart?
- Give us a street name or a landmark rather than the village name alone. The two are separated by the railway and the routes between them are not direct, so sending a van to the wrong side of the line costs real time.
- Can you fit a tyre in a residents' parking bay?
- Yes, provided there is room to work at the wheel and somewhere our van can stop without blocking the road. If the bay is boxed in on both sides, we may ask you to move the car a short distance first, which is normally easy on a spare or slowly on a soft tyre.
- Do you handle vans and light commercials here?
- We do. Van tyres are a large part of what we fit along the A245, and we carry the common commercial sizes. Tell us the van and the load rating stamped on the tyre so we bring the right specification, not just the right size.
