Mobile tyre fitting and recovery in KT7 (Thames Ditton)

KT7 is the smallest district we work in and one of the most awkward to park in. Thames Ditton sits on the river with Victorian streets that were laid out long before two cars per household, and Weston Green keeps its green and its lanes largely intact.

Nothing about the work here is dramatic. It is punctures, worn tyres and dead batteries, complicated almost entirely by where the car happens to be standing.

The A309 and the riverside streets

The A309 forms the southern edge of the district and carries the fast traffic. Everything north of it slows down immediately: Portsmouth Road, the streets running down to the river, and the roads around the station where parked cars leave a single running lane.

That is the practical issue in KT7. We do not need much space, but we do need the wheel to be clear on one side and a place to stand the van where it is not stopping the street. On the narrower roads towards the river we will sometimes work at an odd hour simply because that is when the space exists.

The KT7 places we attend

We work in Thames Ditton and Weston Green.

Both are close enough to our base that a call here is a short run, even at night.

Questions we get asked about KT7

The street is too narrow for a van to stop. What then?
We work it out on the phone before setting off. Often the answer is to move your car twenty yards to a wider stretch or a nearby side road. If it cannot be moved at all, we will look at a quieter time of day when the street empties.
Can you jump-start as well as change a tyre?
Yes. Batteries and tyres are the two things that strand a car on a residential street, and we handle both. If you are not sure which one has failed, describe what the car does when you turn the key and we will usually know before we arrive.
Do you cover Weston Green at weekends?
We work seven days. Weekends here are often easier than weekdays because more residents are home and driveways are in use, which gives us somewhere to work off the road entirely.
