Mobile tyre fitting and recovery in PO11 (Hayling Island)

One bridge on, one bridge off. Hayling Island is joined to the mainland by a single road crossing at Langstone, and everything about working here follows from that. A vehicle stopped on the bridge or its approach does not inconvenience a few drivers — it stops the island.

The island itself is flat, low and thoroughly salted by the sea on three sides, and the beach car parks are shingle and hardcore rather than tarmac.

The A3023 and Langstone Bridge

The A3023 is the only road on and off, running the length of the island from the bridge down to South Hayling and the seafront. If a tyre goes down on the bridge or the approach, keep moving to the first side road you can if the car will allow it. Stopping there is the one thing worth avoiding.

South of the bridge the road is straightforward, and the residential roads either side of it are wide and easy to work in. The seafront car parks are the exception: loose shingle will swallow a jack foot, so we bring boards for anything down there as a matter of routine.

The PO11 places we come out to

This district is simply Hayling Island, Northney and South Hayling.

Because there is only one way on and off, tell us if the bridge is queuing when you call — it changes the timescale we can honestly give you.

Questions we get asked about PO11

My tyre has gone flat on Langstone Bridge.
Keep going if the car will move at all and pull into the first side road on the island. A stopped vehicle on that crossing blocks the only route on and off, and it is not a safe place for us to work on a car either.
Can you work on the shingle at the seafront?
With boards under the jack, yes. Loose shingle offers a jack nothing to push against, so we bring spreader boards for anything near the beach. Tell us which car park and we will arrive set up for it rather than improvising.
Do you really cover Hayling Island from Surrey?
We do, and it is the furthest point on our list. There is no depot down here — we are based in Cobham and we drive it. Ring us and we will tell you plainly how long that will take before you commit to waiting.

Tyre trouble on Hayling Island?

Get off the bridge first, then call with the road and the surface you are parked on. Both change what we bring with us.
